One thing thou lackest
As we look around us especially when there are small children present, how easy it is to observe their desire for the other child’s toy. I wish I could say that is only experienced during those early years of development. But it seem these desire follow us into our adult lives, and can create an unhealthy life style.
The account found in Mark 10, relates the story of one who comes to Jesus with great display of desire to be a follower of Jesus. However, Jesus knowing the heart of the man and his hidden character immediately goes to the source of his problem. Although, the rich young ruler has expressed a desire to follow Jesus, he did not posses the ability to let go of the one thing, which would keep him from serving as a follower.
The young rich ruler felt he had all the qualifications necessary as he presented himself before Jesus, however Jesus looked into the inter man and saw a covenantous man. I am sure to less observant eyes this rich young ruler would have seemed to have been a great additional to the followers of Jesus. The man had fame, fortunate and influence, to the nature man; he represented all the good things of this world. However, when dealing with heaven things, God has a different standard. Man looks on the outside and God looks on the inside, and he is able to see our intentions, as well as our motivations. We cannot pull the wool over God’s eye, since he created us, he know our thoughts and intentions.
Jesus called for the one thing in the man life he was not willing to give up. The riches represented who the man was, therefore the rich young ruler felt he would lose his identity.
Not realizing whatever we give to God he multiplies, and causes it to grow and increase.
The rich young ruler would never know the benefits of following Jesus, because he walked away with him wealth. He didn’t understand who had given him the power to get the wealth in the first place, and that that blessing was given to share.
The prince of this world has blinded our eyes so we cannot see the truth, just as the rich young rulers eyes were blind to who Jesus really was.
In verse 27, Jesus says, “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” We need to look at our conditions with the eye of Jesus; we very well may see everything different.

Ezekiel 32:1-16
When we begin to study the Bible; we discover there are two covenants, the old and the new. The old having to do with Gods promise to the children of Israel, the new covenant having to do with those who have been adopted into the family Ezekiel 33:7
“So thou, O son of man, I have set thee, a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.”
There are many word pictures in the Bible, but none which as strong as the one in ou Matthew 22:34-40
Many times while observing the nightly evening news my mind is drawn to some of the encounters Jesus had with the Sadducees and Pharisees, of which we will examine only one.
In verses 15 through 33, Jesus hadn’t made any bold declara Proverbs 21:2
There is only one person in the world with which you will never win an argument! Although, I really believe we have lead ourselves to believe that God himself can have his mind changed, by our usual circumstances. We have not changed a gre Luke 21: 1-16
It is easy to say, I TRUST GOD, it is much like the first time you step out on roller skates. You have observed other who roller skate, and they make it look so easy, and you dream of doing it yourself. However, until you actually put on Luke 13: 1-5
There is nothing like a good brisk discussion on trouble to engender a declaration of blame. Someone has to be guilty, there has to have been something wrong done, and it seem to be the job of the by standers to place that responsibility. Philippians 3:1-21
Paul the Apostle in writing the book of Philippians deals with the special needs of a church. It is amazing that God prepared this man of God over a course of many years to be the spoke man to this group of new converts. Paul speaks Matthew 21:1-12
Jesus had been doing miracles and his disciples had been amazed at the response of the crowds. Therefore, it was not surprising when Jesus asked two of his disciples to go ahead and secure a colt. Although, what did surprise them was There is no feeling which seem to make us happier that to be free, in New York harbor, thousands of people have expressed their joy at the opportunity of setting feet on the land of a free country.
