For an Hour Such as This

Matthew 2:1-13
Although, we are 5 days away from Christmas eve, with special events to be planned and meals to be prepared, last minute shopping to be done. Last minute visits, forgotten cards and gifts to be sent, the rush could very easily cause us to forget the real reason for the season. What with the advertising all around us it is great to know the church still remains the one place we can go for a few hours to focus our attention on the birth of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 2: 1-13 has provided the Christmas story for us during these last 55 years of our life. As a child growing up in Zion, Illinois, a city founded on Christian principals, Mr. Billy Bickett allowed our new church to use one of his buildings in which to conduct church. Our first Christmas there our young congregation wrote, produced, and preformed what we thought was the greatest Christmas programs ever done.
The trust is the Christmas Story continues to be the greatest story ever told, because without it there wouldn’t be a hope.
God looking down the halls of history saw our need for a savior, and redeemer and sent us His best, His own begotten Son, trusting Mary.
So the scripture would be fulfilled, God in the fullness of time sent forth His son to come to this earth to be born and live among us. Up till this night in Bethlehem of Judea generation had looked forward to the coming of the Messiah, never imagining He would come as a baby.
Shepherds and King a like were influenced by the arrival of this baby, even wise men and religious leaders had to take a back seat to Mary the mother of Jesus.
God chose to deliver His son in this out of the way place, at night, a King arrived in a crowd who didn’t recognize Him, busy paying their taxes and getting ready to return home.
God has away provided a way, just as with Joseph, in the dream when God sent Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus into Egypt. There is a perfect plan for our lives and if we are willing to allow God to rule and rein in our life we can experience fulfillment. This would be a great time to allow God to have His way in our life.
Our prayer is this will be the great Christmas you and your family have ever experienced, because you really allow Christ to be a part of your celebration.
Merry Christmas, God bless you and let the light of Christ shine through you each day of this year.
We love you all in Jesus Christ our Lord,
